Contains humorous quotes from the mail of fellow prisoners of war. Contains detailed memoir in which Ririe discusses his induction into the army at Santa Ana Army Air Corps Base, California. Mentions promises of his patriarchal blessing, difficult training, military pettiness, and harsh discipline. Discusses his bombardier training and use of the secret Norden bomb sight at Victorville, California. Includes dangers of flying old aircraft and training accidents he encountered while at Admore, Oklahoma. Discusses his flight to England, stopover in Ireland, and the heavy losses of his first and only bombing mission. Comments on his capture and treatment by the Germans. Mentions his processing as a prisoner at Dulag Luft, Frankfurt am Main, his encounters with other LDS prisoners, and his internment at Stalag Luft I near Barth, Germany. Provides details of LDS church services in the camp, failed escape attempts, humorous aspects of their internment, forms of entertainment, air raids, sanitary conditions, hunger, cold, his liberation and return home. Includes story of a fellow prisoner, Blaine Harris, regarding his crash and saving two members of his crew.
